Dear Jenn,


You and I have a very special bond. I am your favorite. I know because  you whispered it to me once. I don't mind being trapped in that dark  closet with the coats and tubes of wrapping paper. I don't mind,  because everday, without fail, you take me out for a spin around the  house. Making happy lines on the carpet with you is bliss.
I do, however, have one request. When we're all done playing, can you  PLEASE wrap my cord up properly? What's the deal with the big cord  wreath you hang on my neck? Is it THAT time consuming to wrap it up neat? Is the little up down around around motion a learned skill? Well.....start LEARNING.

You know didn't they used to have retractable cords once upon a time...where you just push a button??? I mean come on...technology cannot do that for us?

When the cord is wrapped up, I know I didn't vacuum last. It's the epitome of laziness, that I don't do it. I really do dream of a retractable cord......Dyson gods, are you listening???
I know, Mom. Even the kids wrap it up. ;-) The gene must have skipped a generation....?

Do people hibernate? I'm convinced we do. Or I've just decided this is the reason for my wanting to stay under the covers and become a professional snoozer. Getting Ma'am ed

At the grocery store, the local coffee spot, by the Principal(who is clearly older than myself)...that one little ridiculously spelled word- ma'am . I know it's supposed to have an aura of respect, but it reeks of...well...chronological order! I can feel it coming, too. "GRANDE SKINNY VANILLA LATTE!!" shouted by some pierced barista. I look around, puzzled because I am the only one waiting.  "Guess that's me...thanks."  wait for it...wait for it ... "Have a nice day, ma'am"  And there it is. Thanks. Getting old sucks.

Honolulu?

I'm at the gym with my husband. It's nice to have a sidekick. He's running on the treadmill beside me. I glance over at him and notice two things;  One- He's far too close to the back of the machine. If he flies off and eats floor, I will probably pretend I don't know him. Two- He's holding his hands in a strange way. Like he's giving the hang loose sign....thumbs up, pinky's down...pumping away. In that moment it occurs to me... .th at looks weir d .
