Thread Count

I am a sheet snob. I really have no business being one. It's an addiction, actually. My name is Jenn, and I'd rather sleep on tacks than crappy sheets.
Ignorance is not bliss in the important case of bed linens. Before my great discovery, I'd put not one iota of thought into the purchase of sheets. The cheaper, the better. After all, they're only to sleep on. Today, those words make me throw up in  my mouth, a little. Hhhuhuurrr.
Thread count. Muy, muy importanté.  That's spanish for, "Pay very close attention to what I'm about to say".  At the very least, 500 thread count is acceptable. Personally, I lust after 1000TC egyptian cotton.  The end all, be all in my fantasy world of sheets. Delicious. Sinful. Yes...I am an addict. I may need rehab. They better have good sheets....

Who does 200 TC anyway??? 400, acceptable. However, I will say that I bought a set of 800 TC sheets on line + on sale and they pilled and faded and looked like crap pretty quickly! I was sooooo disappointed! I really took care of them too :( Bought some 400 at JC Penny and LOVE them! No problems. You know what I have been on the hunt for? Grandma's old flat sheets that I some how ended up with! White, unfitted and sooooo thick! I swear they were 100years old!

Thread Count – The number of threads (both length and width) in one square inch of fabric. A count of 200 for bedding is considered good, and anything over 250 is high. Although a high thread count is desirable, the quality of the cotton and the finishing process can often be more important than thread count.

Egyptian is the best cotton, next is pima or supima, grown in the US. I REALLY love yummy sheets. If I can hold them up and see the threads throught the light....ewwww. Not for me. You can find good deals on overstock, and ebay. Again....I HAVE NO BUSINESS LIKING THESE SHEETS!!! but i do. ;-)

Must have been the finishing process??? They were Egyptian. I will check out ebay! Good idea! BTW I also have no business but I am addicted to dish towels and also have a new addiction for 100% virgin wool blankets and simply MUST have a bedspread from Mexico!
